IT Budgets: SaaS vs AI vs Custom Builds

The reallocation of enterprise software spend across SaaS, AI-native tools, and custom builds.

Prepared for Meridian Software Partners Delivered 11 July 2026 Version v2.0 · frozen n=10 · fielded 27 May 2026

This is your completed study, delivered as a small set of files you can keep, forward, print, and cite. Everything is version-stamped and frozen — the numbers won't move under you — and every figure in the documents is reproducible from the data pack. Start with whichever file matches what you need to do next.

How to use the bundle

  1. Decide from the Decision Brief. It leads with the call and the disagreement — where the panel splits and how hard each side holds it — so you can see the risk before the summary.
  2. Send the Executive Summary upstairs. It's the one page written for the room above you; the numbers match the brief to the digit.
  3. Verify from the Data pack. If you want to rebuild a chart or pressure-test a number, it's all in the CSV with a codebook.
  4. Present from the Charts. Lift the editable charts into your own deck rather than screenshotting the PDF.
Questions on the findings? Reply to the email this link came from, or ask your FishDog analyst for a short walkthrough or a custom cut. The study is synthetic and directional (n=10) — the full methodology and limitations are stated on every document, and the underlying study is at fishdog-report-lab.pages.dev/it-budget.
